Ruggable is a leading direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand based in Los Angeles, California, renowned for creating the original washable rug. As one of the largest Shopify stores globally, Ruggable operates across three continents (North America, Europe, and Oceania) with a made-to-order model that allows them to offer thousands of beautiful designs.

My role

I joined Ruggable as the first technical product hire outside North America, based in London. While I initially owned the technical and product oversight of our European storefronts, my role has grown into a core position within the global product and technology team. Today, I work on initiatives that impact all of Ruggable’s storefronts across three continents, serving millions of users each year.

I sit at the centre of a large-scale, custom ecommerce storefront built on a modern tech stack, working closely with multiple developers, designers, and senior stakeholders. This is not a lightweight setup - it’s a high-traffic, highly complex product where changes ship globally and every decision has real commercial impact. I help decide what gets built, when, and why - shaping the roadmap and driving global initiatives through to delivery.

A key part of my role is bridging two fast-moving worlds: supporting the European commercial and merchandising teams during the day, while collaborating closely with the US-based product, engineering, and leadership teams into the evening. I work with all levels of the organisation - from merchandising assistants through to the C-suite - translating business needs into clear product direction and ensuring teams stay aligned despite time zone and organisational complexity.

Day to day, my work is hands-on and varied. It includes writing and refining product requirements, QA’ing releases, preparing and running experiments, supporting major sales and launches, and helping ensure teams have the tools and processes they need to operate at scale. Beyond core product management, I also contribute to product operations, pitching in where needed across tech support, merchandising enablement, and operational improvements.
